Tom McGeoch

Tom started playing drums when he was only 9 years old, demonstrating at a young age an extraordinary musical ability. He has played in many bands over the years and has played the drums in numerous original and cover bands alike. Tom grew up playing shows all around Ohio and the surrounding states. He is also frequently called to fill in for other drummers and thrives in all types of musical environments and situations. In 2011, he embarked on a series of one off’s filling in for My Ticket Home (Rise Records) as direct support for Attack Attack! (Rise Records). Tom learned their six-song set in just three days. This tour also marked the start of his international debut, playing a date in London, Ontario.

A few months later, Tom was called to fill in on tour in the US and Canada playing drums for fellow Columbus rockers, City Lights (InVogue Records).

Tom’s musical education began in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio, where he studied with Jeff Robert (drum set) at Columbus Percussion for nine years. Tom studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and studied independently with Rod Morgenstein. He graduated from Berklee with a B.A. in music business management with a drum set performance focus in August 2014. Tom has a genuine love for music, and he continues to receive formal music training to further enhance his abilities.

While Tom has a particularly strong background playing metal and rock music, he is very versatile and can play any style. Tom can read music and charts, is great with a double pedal, and adapts quickly and easily between genres. He played every Sunday at Unity Spiritual Center in Westlake, OH for both the 9am and 11am services back in 2012. He is also easy to work with and pleasant to be around.

Tom’s influences include drummers Thomas Lang, Aaron GIllespie, Matt Greiner, and Steve Jordan, and he has shared the stage with the likes of Memphis May Fire, Attack Attack!, and Miss May I.

Tom now resides in Los Angeles, California where he continues to play drums, teach private lessons and direct group lessons at School of Rock Woodland Hills, and also work as a producer.
